Six months away taught me that sometimes the most meaningful seasons are the ones we never planned.
Six months.
It doesn’t seem like a long time until you look back and realize just how much life can change.
The last time I sat down to write here, I had every intention of returning the following week. I had ideas scribbled in notebooks, drafts waiting to be finished, and a heart full of stories I wanted to tell. Then life, as it often does, had other plans.
The days became weeks, and the weeks quietly turned into six months.
A new job challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. It demanded more of my time, more of my energy, and more of my attention. Like many of you, I found myself learning how to balance responsibilities while still trying to hold onto the dreams that mattered most.
But those six months weren’t empty.
They were full.
They were full of beautiful moments, unexpected lessons, and blessings I never want to take for granted.
I spent more time with my grandchildren, soaking in the laughter that only children can bring. They have a way of reminding us that the world doesn’t always have to move so fast. They aren’t worried about tomorrow’s to-do list or next week’s schedule. They’re completely present in the moment, and I’ve realized that’s a gift many of us lose somewhere along the way.
I traveled to California to spend time with family—moments that reminded me just how precious time together really is. Distance has a way of making you appreciate the people you love even more, and every visit became a reminder that relationships deserve our attention long before life forces us to slow down.
I also had the privilege of helping my son grow his business. Watching him pursue his dreams reminded me that one of life’s greatest joys is encouraging the people we love as they build something meaningful for themselves.
At home, another exciting chapter began.
We moved into a new home.
Moving has a funny way of teaching you what truly matters. As I packed boxes, sorted through years of belongings, and found places for everything once again, I realized how much unnecessary clutter we accumulate—not just in our closets, but in our minds, our schedules, and our expectations.
Sometimes creating a peaceful life starts with creating peaceful spaces.
Behind the scenes, I was also rebranding my businesses.
What many people see as new logos, updated colors, or fresh websites has actually been something much deeper for me. Rebranding wasn’t simply about changing how my businesses look—it was about aligning them with who I’ve become.
Growth has a way of changing us.
The things that mattered five years ago aren’t always the things that matter today.
I’ve learned that it’s okay to evolve.
It’s okay to outgrow old ideas.
It’s okay to begin again.
And then something happened that I had dreamed about for years.
I finally completed my book.
There were countless evenings when I wondered if I would ever type the final words. Life always seemed to have another responsibility waiting for me. There was another meeting, another errand, another project, another reason to postpone the dream just a little longer.
But page by page…
Chapter by chapter…
I kept writing.
Holding that finished manuscript in my hands reminded me that dreams don’t always happen on our timeline, but they can still happen if we refuse to give up.
That accomplishment wasn’t about publishing a book.
It was about proving to myself that perseverance matters more than perfection.
Looking back now, I realize something else quietly happened during those six months.
My writing became quiet.
Not because I stopped loving it.
Not because I had nothing left to say.
I simply became busy living the stories I would eventually write about.
For a long time, I told myself I would return to blogging when life slowed down. When work became easier. When the house was completely unpacked. When everything settled.
But life has taught me something important.
Life rarely slows down on its own.
We have to choose it.
Choosing to slow down doesn’t mean doing less. It doesn’t mean giving up on our ambitions or lowering our goals. It means becoming intentional about how we spend our days—saying yes to what matters most, and learning to say no without guilt. It means recognizing that being constantly busy isn’t the same as living a meaningful life.
Some of my favorite memories from the past six months weren’t the productive ones. They were the quiet ones.
The conversations around the dinner table.
The hugs from my grandchildren.
The drives through California with family.
The peaceful evenings spent writing.
Those moments didn’t make my to-do list.
They made my life.
I think so many of us spend years chasing the next milestone. The promotion. The bigger house. The successful business. The finished project. The perfect timing. And while there’s nothing wrong with pursuing those things, we sometimes forget that life is happening while we’re busy planning for someday.
I’m learning that intentional living isn’t about having a perfectly organized home, a perfectly balanced schedule, or a perfectly peaceful life. It’s about paying attention. It’s about noticing the beauty in ordinary Tuesdays. It’s about putting your phone down to truly listen to someone you love. It’s about lighting a candle after a long day, writing in a journal before bed, watching a sunset instead of rushing to the next task.
It’s about making room for joy—even when life feels busy.
I’ve realized that slowing down isn’t something that magically happens after we’ve completed every project or checked every box. It’s a decision. One we make every single day. Sometimes it looks like saying no to one more commitment, or taking a walk without your phone. Sometimes it looks like drinking your morning coffee before opening your email, or spending an afternoon with your grandchildren instead of worrying about everything waiting for you at home.
And sometimes…
It looks like coming back to the place you love after six months away.
That’s exactly what this blog feels like for me.
Coming home.
Welcome to Awakened Living
If you’re finding this blog for the first time, welcome.
And if you’ve been here before, thank you for waiting.
The past six months have reminded me that life doesn’t always unfold according to our plans. Sometimes our days become filled with work, family, responsibilities, and dreams we’re quietly chasing behind the scenes. Before we know it, the things we love—like writing—are put on pause.
But I’m here again.
With a grateful heart, a new perspective, and a renewed desire to share this journey with you.
My hope is that this little corner of the internet becomes a place where we can pause together. A place where we talk about creating peaceful homes, meaningful work, creativity, books, family, faith, and those quiet moments that often become the most important ones.
This isn’t a place for perfection.
It’s a place for progress.
For choosing intention over busyness. For creating beauty in ordinary days. For embracing slower mornings, meaningful conversations, and a life that reflects what truly matters.
My heart is simple.
Helping women create a life of peace, purpose, creativity, and intention—one small step at a time.
Whether you’re here to find encouragement, discover creative inspiration, read about home and family, follow along on my writing journey, or simply slow down for a few moments, I hope you leave feeling just a little lighter than when you arrived.
I’m so glad you’re here.
So pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, get comfortable, and stay awhile.
Here’s to slowing down, living with intention, and finding joy in the ordinary—one small step at a time.
